G77+China: President of the Republic urges coordination, joint action to preserve negotiating unity of South countries

The President of the Republic, Abelmadjid Tebboune called in a speech read on his behalf by the Prime Minister, Nadir Larbaoui before the participants in the 3rd Summit of the G77+China for further coordination and joint action within the Group to preserve its negotiating unity in international organizations.

The President of the Republic stressed that “this coordination must preserve the interests of the Southern countries, particularly in terms of sovereign equality, by giving priority to consensual solutions within the framework of multilateralism on the one hand, and development, empowerment and special and differentiated treatment on the economic level on the other.”

In this regard, the President of the Republic underscored “the importance of reviving targeted initiatives to advance the sustainable development plan for 2030 and its goals, particularly under the South-South cooperation, which is essential for meeting the common expectations of developing countries.”

"These steps, which need to be implemented, come in response to a shifting and ambiguous international context, characterized by divisions, an increased polarization and challenges resulting from shocks that have impacted the countries of the South, causing an exacerbation of crisis and a wider gap between these countries and the North,” continued the Head of State.

The President of the Republic underlined “the importance of collective and coordinated action in the face of the challenges of food and energy security and its impact, including the accentuation of conflicts, the rise in poverty and the aggravation of disparities, particularly in the least-developed countries with soaring global inflation rates and debt levels that have reached unsustainable levels in some countries.”
